About Me

My Personal Narrative

Though it is only my first year being on a nationally recognized and award-winning publication, I have learned so much. The publication has taught me patience, perseverance, and how to trust people. In today's world, trusting others is a struggle. Journalism for me has always had one purpose. To write and inform others about stories happening today GLOBALLY. For me now, journalism now a way I can communicate with my peers while also telling their stories, even if it's not ground-breaking. Through the publication, I have been able to continuously learn new things about the people I see every day while also learning how to navigate the world of marketing and business. Being a digital media major, I had no idea how the communications department worked, nor did I know what was expected of me. The friendships and trust that this publication has given me have made me become a better staffer while allowing me to improve my work in both sections I work with. I will continue to use the skills journalism has given me throughout my career.

Submitting to Scholastics: My Experience

Submitting to Scholastics is a great opportunity to get your work displayed. My experience using scholastic media was challenging as I wasn't quite sure where to submit my work or what to do concerning the process. Instructions seemed very easy to follow, though later on, I learned the process wouldn't be as easy. Creating my account was not a task, but the steps leading up to submitting my work were. I attempted countless times after inputting my writing to move on to the next step, yet the publication wouldn't let me. My word count was good, and all my info was correct, yet I struggled to move on. I must've reloaded and retyped my writing for what seemed like hours, I ended up needing to log out and then back into my account to move forward. After these complications, I was finally able to submit my Q&A-based interview when the option to showed up on the final screen. The next time I submit to scholastics, I plan on entering a photo for my entry instead of writing and hope to become a recipient of a photography-based award.
